Why app promotion TikTok videos get no views

The spam signals that sink app promotion videos on TikTok — repeated clips, watermarks, link-baiting, identical captions — and what to change.

Farmero team · checked

Short answer: app promotion videos stall at a handful of views when they look like spam: the same clip reposted across accounts, other apps' watermarks, "like and follow for the link" prompts, identical captions, or accounts that only ever advertise. TikTok's For You feed standards list unoriginal reuploads and false engagement incentives as ineligible. Make real edits, act like a normal account, and disclose promotion.

What TikTok says

From TikTok's For You feed standards and integrity and authenticity guidelines, as of 17 September 2026:

  • "Reproduced or unoriginal content that is imported or uploaded without any new or creative edits" is ineligible for the For You feed, including content with someone else's visible watermark.
  • Content that manipulates engagement, such as "like-for-like" promises and false incentives, falls under fake engagement.
  • Spam includes accounts "operated in bulk," "through unauthorized automation," or "to distribute high-volume commercial content."
  • Ineligible content can still be found through search and by followers.

TikTok also says promotional posts need the Commercial Content Disclosure setting, and undisclosed ones may be flagged and made ineligible for the For You feed (TikTok Ads help, as of 17 September 2026).

Common signals and fixes

Signal Why it hurts Fix
Same file on many accounts Unoriginal reupload New hook, cut and caption per account
Watermark from another app Named as ineligible Export clean from your editor
"Like + follow for the link" False incentive Plain "link in bio" or nothing
Identical captions and hashtags Looks automated Write each caption; vary hashtags to fit
Every post is an ad High-volume commercial content Mix in useful, non-promotional posts
Undisclosed promotion Can be flagged Turn on commercial content disclosure
Posting bursts from a new account Unusual behavior Warm up; post on a steady rhythm
Extremely short or GIF-only clips Listed as low quality Give the video a real payoff
Link or QR code as the focus QR codes generally ineligible outside low-risk contexts Show the app, not a code

Diagnosing a stalled account

  1. Check the notifications and account status in the app for any violations or ineligibility notices.
  2. Look at recent posts together. Do they look identical to another account?
  3. Post one clearly original, non-promotional video and watch whether it gets distribution.
  4. Review your posting pattern. Bursts, identical timings and identical captions are worth changing.
  5. Pause, don't multiply. Opening replacement accounts to get around a restriction is ban evasion.

Automating these apps may breach their terms, and nobody can promise an account will never be restricted.

Prevention

How Farmero helps with the obvious mistakes

Farmero warns (it does not block) when the same clip is going to the same platform twice, gives each account its own editable caption, and posts on schedules or smart windows rather than all at once. It does not alter or "uniquify" videos; the edits have to be real and yours. See same video on multiple TikTok accounts.

FAQ

Why does my app video get 0 views?

Common causes are reuploaded or watermarked clips, undisclosed promotion, or an account pattern that looks like spam. Check the account for notices first.

Does posting the same video on several accounts hurt?

TikTok lists reuploads without new creative edits as ineligible for the For You feed. Re-edit for each account.

Can I put "link in bio" in captions?

A plain pointer is normal. Tying the link to likes or follows is a false incentive.

Is changing a few pixels enough to make a clip original?

No. Make real creative edits: a different hook, cut and caption.
