App marketing TikTok metrics that matter

The TikTok metrics to track for app marketing — views, profile visits, link taps, installs and trial starts — where each comes from, and how to read the funnel.

Farmero team · checked

Short answer: track the funnel from views to profile visits to link taps to installs to trial starts or first purchase. Views tell you a hook worked; link taps and installs tell you the content sells the app. Judge accounts and formats on the later steps, weekly, and remember store data is delayed and hides small numbers.

The funnel

Step What it tells you Where it comes from Caveat
Views Hook and topic reach TikTok analytics per post Swings widely per post
Watch time / completion Whether the video holds TikTok analytics Short videos inflate completion
Profile visits Interest in the account TikTok analytics Not every visitor taps the link
Link taps Intent Your link tool or landing page Needs a tracked link
Product page views Store arrivals App Store Connect campaigns Minimum threshold of 5
Installs Downloads App Store Connect campaigns / custom product pages 24-hour delay; threshold
Trial starts Revenue intent Your subscription backend Needs campaign data joined in
First paid week Real value Your backend Arrives later

App Store Connect campaign data appears under Analytics → Acquisition, only for metrics of at least five in the selected range and after 24 hours (App Store Connect Help, as of 17 September 2026). Custom product pages report impressions, downloads and conversion rate per page (Apple Developer, as of 17 September 2026).

Ratios to watch

Compute these from your own data; there are no universal targets.

  • Profile visit rate = profile visits / views
  • Link tap rate = link taps / profile visits
  • Store conversion = installs / product page views
  • Trial rate = trial starts / installs

A format with fewer views but a higher link tap rate can beat a viral video on installs.

A weekly review sheet

Account Posts Views Profile visits Link taps Installs (store) Trials Notes
@example.app.students 7 Tutorial hooks
@example.app.couples 7 POV test
@example.app.brand 5 Update clips

Fill it the same day each week. Store columns lag, so fill last week's store numbers first.

Reading the numbers

  • High views, low profile visits: the hook works but the video doesn't make people curious about you. Show the app more clearly.
  • High profile visits, low link taps: fix the bio and link text.
  • High link taps, low installs: fix the store page, or use a custom product page that matches the video.
  • Installs but no trials: onboarding or paywall, not TikTok.

How to set up per-account links: tracking installs from organic. When views drop to near zero, check spam signals.

What Farmero reports (and doesn't)

Farmero reports operations: what posted, what didn't, what was refused, and its verification rate, on the Mac and through its local MCP server. It does not show view counts or install data; those come from the platforms and App Store Connect. See the MCP server.

FAQ

What is the most important TikTok metric for an app?

Link taps and installs per account, then trial starts. Views alone don't pay.

Why don't my App Store campaign numbers match my link taps?

Apple hides metrics below five, delays data by a day, and some people install later through search instead of the link.

How often should I check metrics?

Weekly for decisions. Daily checks mostly show noise.

Can I see installs per video?

Rarely. Per-account campaign links are usually as fine-grained as organic gets.
