How to set up an iPhone phone farm on a Mac

The hardware list, the one-time Xcode step, the iPhone settings that fail silently, and how long it takes — for running TikTok, Instagram and YouTube from real iPhones.

Short answer: an iPhone phone farm is a Mac, a handful of iPhones on iOS 17 or newer, a powered USB hub, short data cables, and software that drives the real apps on each phone. No jailbreak. The only developer step is installing a small runner app on each phone with Xcode, once. Budget an afternoon for the first phone — most of it is Xcode downloading — and about fifteen minutes for each phone after that.

Most phone farm guides online are about Android handsets or cloud phones. This one is only about iPhones driven from a Mac.

What you need

Item Minimum Notes
Mac macOS 14 or newer Any Mac mini or laptop you already own will do to start
iPhones iOS 17 or newer iPhone 11 or newer is the sensible floor — see which iPhone to buy
Cables One USB data cable per phone Short, certified. Charge-only cables never show the phone to the Mac
USB hub Powered, with its own adapter Needed from the third phone. See USB hubs
Xcode Free from the Mac App Store Installs the runner on each phone
Apple ID Free works A free ID means re-signing the runner every 7 days; a paid developer account does not
Proxies Optional One per phone is the usual shape once you run a dozen accounts

Step by step

1. Prepare each iPhone

  • Update to iOS 17 or newer and sign in to the accounts you will run — TikTok, Instagram and YouTube all support several accounts per app.
  • Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never. A phone that locks itself drops off mid-run.
  • Turn brightness down. The screen stays on, and a dim screen runs cooler.

2. Plug in and trust

Connect with a data cable, unlock, tap Trust. If nothing appears, change the cable before anything else — it is the cause more often than any setting.

3. Install the runner (the Xcode step)

iOS only runs apps signed by a developer, so the automation runner has to be signed with your Apple ID. With Farmero this is a guided step: Install the runner. After the first install, Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode appears; turn it on and restart the phone.

4. Add the phone and its accounts to the software

In Farmero the phone appears under Phones, and you add the accounts that are signed in on it. Farmero checks the handle on screen before it acts, so an account list that does not match the phone gets caught rather than posted to.

5. Start slow

Run one phone for a day before adding the rest. Warm new accounts in before they publish at volume — see how warm-ups work — and add a phone at a time so a bad cable shows up as one phone, not "the farm is flaky".

How many phones per Mac?

Past a handful, the limit is USB power and bandwidth, not the Mac's processor. Farmero has been run on four phones at once on one Mac; a powered hub matters more than the Mac model. Each app allows several accounts per phone, and Farmero plans are sized at eight accounts per iPhone.

Common mistakes

  1. Unpowered hubs. The phones brown out and disconnect, which looks exactly like a software bug.
  2. Long or charge-only cables. Clips travel over the same cable as power.
  3. Letting phones sleep. Auto-Lock must be off.
  4. Posting on day one. New accounts that publish immediately at volume are the ones that get noticed.
  5. Emulators and cloud phones for iOS. There are none — cloud phone services run Android. See cloud phones vs real iPhones.

FAQ

Do I need to jailbreak the iPhones?

No. The runner is a normal developer-signed app installed with Xcode. Jailbreaking is neither needed nor recommended.

Can I build an iPhone phone farm on Windows?

Not with Farmero, which is Mac-only. Installing a runner on an iPhone needs Xcode, which only runs on macOS.

How long does setup take?

The first phone takes about half an hour, mostly the Xcode download. Each additional phone is plug in, trust, install the runner, add its accounts.

Will a phone farm get my accounts banned?

Nobody can promise it will not. Posting from a real device with human pacing is the conservative way to automate, but automating these apps may still breach their terms. Read them and decide for yourself.

What does it cost?
