Short answer: YouTube does not publish an ideal number of Shorts per day. One a day is a reasonable starting assumption for a channel that can keep quality up; go higher only if each extra Short earns its own engaged views. YouTube's spam policy specifically targets using automation or AI to flood the platform with near-identical videos, so extra volume has to be genuinely different content.
What is actually known
- No official number. We found no YouTube help or policy page, as of September 2026, that recommends a daily Shorts count.
- Mass-produced content is a policy problem. YouTube's spam policy says it does not allow automated tools or AI to "churn out high volumes of similar content with minimal changes", including coordinated mass-production, and it covers scraped content (as of September 2026).
- Repetitive content affects monetization. The reused and inauthentic content policy requires content that is not "mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative" (as of September 2026).
- Strikes add up. Three Community Guidelines strikes within 90 days may terminate a channel, per the same spam policy page.
- Upload in batches if you like. YouTube Studio lets you upload up to 15 short videos at once from a computer (YouTube Help, as of September 2026). Scheduling them is fine; uploading duplicates is not.

How to test it
- Keep topic, length and posting time steady for a month.
- Two weeks at your current rate, then two weeks at the higher one.
- Compare weekly engaged views and subscribers gained, not just views. Since March 31, 2025, a Shorts view counts every play or replay with no minimum watch time, so engaged views are the better signal (YouTube Help, as of September 2026).
- Keep the higher rate only if totals rise and per-Short numbers do not collapse.
What matters more than frequency
- Original videos you own or have permission to use.
- A clear topic; see growing a new Shorts channel.

Posting Shorts on a schedule
