Short answer: the reliable Instagram shadowban check is built into the app: Settings → Account Status. Common reasons content stops being recommended
- Reposted, unoriginal content. Since 2024 Instagram has said it recommends the original when it finds identical content, and accounts that repeatedly repost others' content without adding anything are not shown in recommendations (TechCrunch, April 2024, as of September 2026). A five-minute routine
- Open Account Status. Anything red? Deal with it first.
- If everything is clear, compare the post to your last 20, not your best.
- Check the post is original, yours to use, and without a watermark.
- Check the hashtags: five or fewer, all relevant.
- Post something clearly original and compare.
Checking many accounts
If you manage several accounts, put Account Status on a weekly list for each one; the weekly health checklist has a template.
