Short answer: do not post a TikTok download, watermark and all, to Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. Upload the clean original file you exported before posting anywhere. TikTok itself lists unoriginal content with watermarks as ineligible for its For You feed, Instagram has said it favors original content over reposts, and YouTube's reused content rules cover clips taken from other platforms without meaningful changes. A clean file is also simply better quality.

None of these says "we detect watermarks and penalize them" on Instagram or YouTube in so many words. The practical point is the same: a visible logo from another app marks the video as a repost, and reposts are what these rules are about.
Why the downloaded file is worse anyway
- Extra compression. A downloaded TikTok has already been compressed once; uploading it again compresses it a second time.
- A moving logo and handle sit on top of your framing.
- An end card from another app may be appended.
- Wrong handle. The watermark shows your TikTok username, which may not match the account you are posting to.
A clean cross-posting workflow
- Edit once, export a master file: 1080×1920, 9:16, no platform watermark.
- Keep the master in a folder named by date and topic, not in your camera roll only.
