Short answer: Account Status is Instagram's in-app screen that shows whether your content may be recommended to people who don't follow you, lists removed content, and shows samples of posts or profile components that may go against the Recommendations Guidelines. "Not eligible for recommendations" means followers still see your posts, but Instagram will not show them to new people in Explore, Reels or suggested posts until the issue is fixed.

Why creator pages get flagged
Instagram filters posts that "may be sexually suggestive" from recommendations to non-followers (Instagram, 20 July 2021), and it has said accounts that mostly post others' content will not be recommended (TechCrunch, 30 April 2024). For creator pages, the places to look first are:
- Suggestive posts or thumbnails, including older posts.
- Profile components. Account Status can flag parts of the profile, so check the bio, name, photo and link.
- Reposted or duplicated content.

When a page is not eligible
- Stop posting new borderline content on that account.
- Open each flagged sample and read what it points to.
- Edit or delete the flagged posts; change flagged profile components.
- Use the disagree option if you believe a flag is wrong.
- Check again after a few days, and log the result.
- Do not open a replacement account to get around it, and do not buy engagement to compensate.

Making it a routine
Check Account Status for every Instagram account once a week, on the same day, by one named person. It belongs in the daily and weekly SOP, and eligibility is one of the operational KPIs.
