How to track sales from each TikTok account

Track which TikTok account drove each Shopify sale with UTM links, per-account discount codes and Shopify's marketing and discount reports.

Short answer: give every account its own tagged link and, optionally, its own discount code. Use a unique utm_campaign value per account in the bio link, then read Shopify's marketing reports for sessions and sales by campaign, and the "Sales by discount codes" report for code usage. Log the results in one sheet per week so you can compare accounts side by side.

Neither method is perfect. UTMs miss people who type your store name later; codes miss people who don't use them. Using both gives you two partial views.

Method 1: UTM links per account

Shopify's Help Center says traffic that arrives with utm_campaign in the URL "is attributed to marketing," and Shopify offers several attribution models, with last non-direct click as the default (Shopify Help Center, checked 17 September 2026).

Build one link per account and platform:

Account Platform utm_source utm_medium utm_campaign
@example.kitchenfinds TikTok tiktok organic kitchenfinds
@example.petdesk TikTok tiktok organic petdesk
@example.petdesk Instagram instagram organic petdesk-ig
Example Desk Corner YouTube youtube organic deskcorner-yt

Example:

https://example-store.com/collections/kitchen?utm_source=tiktok&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=kitchenfinds

Keep the values lowercase and consistent. Bio link eligibility on TikTok is covered in Shopify traffic from TikTok.

Method 2: a discount code per account

Create one code per account (KITCHEN10, PETDESK10) and mention it in that account's videos. Shopify's "Sales by discount codes" report "displays your sales grouped by the name of the discount" (Shopify Help Center, checked 17 September 2026).

Only promise a discount you actually offer, and keep its terms clear.

A weekly tracking sheet

Week Account Posts Link sessions Orders (UTM) Orders (code) Revenue Notes
37 kitchenfinds 7 from report from report from report from report Frother test
37 petdesk 5 from report from report from report from report Roller slideshow

Posts come from your posting log; the rest from Shopify. Views and saves come from each app's own insights. How to turn these into a funnel is in views to sales metrics.

Common gaps

  • Viewers who search your store later show up as direct or search traffic, not as the account.
  • In-app browsers can behave differently from a normal browser; test your links from the app.
  • One link for all accounts makes attribution impossible. Always split.

Keeping the posting side straight

Tracking only works if you know what went out where. Farmero reports what posted, what did not, and what it refused, per account, and records a post as posted only after it finds it on the profile. It does not track sales or views; Shopify and the apps do that. Automating these apps may breach their terms, and nobody can promise an account will never be restricted. See posting. FAQ

What is the simplest way to track sales per TikTok account?

A unique utm_campaign in each account's bio link, read in Shopify's marketing reports.

Do I need both UTMs and discount codes?

No, but each catches buyers the other misses. Using both gives a fuller view.

Why don't my TikTok sales show up in Shopify reports?

Check the link has a utm_campaign, test it from inside the app, and remember that buyers who come back later may show as direct.

Can I track sales per video?

Only roughly, since the bio link is shared across videos. A code mentioned in one video only is one workaround.
